The basic purpose of BBA(Hons) degree is to gain a full knowledge of main disciplines relevant to business management. In this program the students are provided a strong foundation in the basic fields and are also exposed to the latest issues and topics facing business leaders today. BBA (Hons) is a 4 year bechalor degree, Generally BBA (Hons) is not a terminal degree and most of the students would go for their MBA before getting into the job market. However, the program is designed in such a way that graduates should be capable of getting reasonable jobs in the market and also in multinational Farms.

Degree Requirements

The BBA programme requires students to complete 120 Modular Credits (MCs) to graduate. After completing at least 56 MCs of Business Foundation/Essential/Elective modules, students with Cumulative Average Point (CAP) of at least 3.5 (out of 5.0) will be invited to join the BBA Honours BBA(Hons) or BBA(Acc) programme, which requires 160 modular credits for graduation (40 more than for the BBA programme).

When registering for modules, students must note any prerequisites that indicate the base of knowledge on which the subject matter of a particular module will be built. Before taking a module, a student should complete any prerequisite module(s) listed for that particular module. Where prerequisites are specified, equivalent modules will also be accepted. If in doubt, students should consult the course instructor or academic advisors regarding any acceptable equivalent prerequisite modules.

The degree requirements for 3-year BBA program and the 4-year BBA Honours program are listed in Tables 1 and 2 below. These requirements follow the NUS undergraduate curriculum structure having the following outline:

International English Language Test System: IELTS

International English Language Test System famously known as IELTS is an English Language Proficiency test that is required to be taken by non-native students for study in countries where the medium of instruction is English. Among the popular study destinations IELTS is accepted by universities in UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

The test is conducted by the British Council. You can contact your local British Council office to find out where your nearest test centre is located. Most centres normally have a testing session about once a month. You should contact the test centre to find out the date of the next test and collect the IELTS handbook and an application form. The filled application form should be sent back to the test centre with the test fee. You will be given a date and time of your test.

The British Council also runs short courses to prepare you for IELTS. Check details about the same from your test centre.

IELTS is jointly managed by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, British Council, and IDP: IELTS Australia.

It has become a mandatory test for students of many nationalities to get student visas to Australia. You cannot be granted an Australian student visa without an IELTS score if you are from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and any other countries like these, TOEFL is not accepted.

All other study destinations either require you to take the TOEFL or IELTS. IELTS is however not accepted by most universities in USA. TOEFL is required for study there.

The test results are normally made available within two weeks of taking the test. You can also ask for more copies of your test results.

The test has follwing sections:

The Listening Section - Duration : 30 minutes

Academic reading/general training reading section - Duration : 60 minutes

Academic writing/general training writing section - Duration : 60 minutes
Speaking Section : Duration : 11 - 14 minutes

Total test time : 2 hours and 45 minutes

You will receive a separate Band Score. The four Band Scores, one for each section are added together and averaged for an Overall Band Score. Each Band has a statement giving a summary of the English at that level. There are nine Band levels, from one (non-user) to nine (expert user).

The minimum score accepted for a course ranges from 5.0 to 7.5, depending upon courses and institutes you are applying to. The most common requirement is a band score of 6 to 6.5.

Test Reports have a validity of two years.You can retake the test if you donot achieve the desired score but not before three months of the first test date.

What the GMAT Measures?

Format and Timing

Analytical Writing Assessment

The GMAT® exam begins with the Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA). The AWA consists of two separate writing tasks—Analysis of an Issue and Analysis of an Argument. You are allowed 30 minutes to complete each one.

You can start investigating a career in computing as early as four years before you enter college, but certainly no later than the year before. For example, some of the degrees require a lot of math and science; so, it would be to your advantage to take up to four years of math courses (including Calculus) and up to two years of science courses prior to entering college. If you have the money and time, it is always helpful to make a campus visit and meet the professors and students.

Multiple-choice tests are one of the most common testing formats for classroom tests, competency tests and for entrance exams to college. Learning a few strategies for taking multiple-choice tests can go along way towards helping you do well in school and preparing for both college and a career.

The following are the two most common types of questions you’ll find on a multiple-choice test.

Question Format #1 – Fill in the blank.

A fill in the blank question is usually formatted as an incomplete statement where you are required to fill in the blank to complete the statement. When given this type of question you are usually provided with four answer choices. You are then required to selection the choice that best completes the statement.

The following is an example:

The 13th amendment to the U.S. Constitution is addresses .

a. The right to bare arms
b. Freedom of speech
c. Abolition of slavery
d. Right to an attorney

The correct answer is “c”. In this example you would circle the letter “c” to complete the statement “The 13th amendment to the U.S. Constitution addresses abolition of slavery.

Question Format #2 – Select the correct answer.

This format for multiple-choice questions is straightforward. You are presented with a direct question and several possible answers. You are then expected to select the letter that represents the answer choice that correctly answers the question.

The following is an example:

How many counties are there in the state of Utah?

a. 17
b. 15
c. 29
d. 22

You should circle “c” to show that there are 20 counties in the state of Utah.

Helpful Hints for Taking Multiple-Choice Tests

1. Carefully read the statement to be completed or question to be answered. Then underline, highlight or circle the most important words in the statement or question to help you focus on the information that is most important.

2. Even if you think you know the answer make sure to read all of the answer choices before circling one.

3. Cross off any answer choices that you know are incorrect. This will help you narrow down the selection of choices and focus only on those answers that may be correct.

4. Look for answer choices that are opposites. More often than not when two answer choices are opposite one is likely to be the correct answer.

5. Your initial answer to a multiple-choice question is usually the correct answer. Don’t change your answer unless you are positive that another answer choice is correct.

6. Select “all of the above” if you are sure that all the answer choices are correct.

1. Narration

The narration technique for writing is used when telling a story. 2. Description

A description is a simple yet very important writing technique. You will most frequently find descriptions in magazines, books, newspapers and many other forms of writing. The purpose of a description is to help the read use the senses of seeing, hearing, feeling and smelling to experience what the writer experiences. Descriptions help the reader to understand things about which the writer is writing.

3. Persuasion

The technique of persuasion is used in writing to try and change the reader’s point of view on a particular subject or topic. In this writing technique the writer presents in a compelling format facts and opinions in order to convince the reader. Persuasive writing is most commonly found in editorials, newspapers, magazines and political publications.

4. Exposition

The purpose of exposition is to inform, explain, expound or clarify the writer’s ideas and thoughts. While similar to descriptive writing, exposition provides the reader greater detail and depth of understanding about the writer’s thoughts and ideas. Expositions are most commonly found in newspapers, magazines and books.

5. Comparison and Contrast

The purpose of the writing technique is to show the reader the similarities and differences about a something. Comparison is used to show or explain how what is alike or common. Contract is used to show what is different. When asked to compare and contrast the Civil War with World War II the writer would show the similarities and differences between these two wars.
